Interior Design

The professional interior designer is one who is trained to identify, research, and creatively solve problems relative to the function and quality of the human environment.

O'More College was founded 35 years ago as an interior design school, and our reputation is built upon an intensive curriculum, a faculty of leading professionals in the interior design industry, coveted internships with the best agencies and distinguished alumni who demonstrate a superior level of training and creativity.

The O'More Interior Design BFA program produces designers qualified to do much more than simply select coordinating colors and materials. O'More interior design graduates are prepared to plan the total environment of commercial, residential, and public interiors, and to work with other professionals, such as architects, engineers, and environmental specialists, to ensure that the potential of the space is maximized.

Our campus features historic buildings, state-of-the-art design studios and the latest AutoCAD technology, a combination of timeless design and the smart utilization of cutting-edge tools that make our work more precise, more innovative and more practical.

The O'More model is immersion in design instruction, and our faculty are leaders in the interior design industry. Built upon a strong foundation of liberal arts, the training is demanding, but the results will show. You'll be better prepared for a successful career, and you'll have established contacts in the business when you enter the workplace.

Our instructors know that real-world, hands-on experience is what separates good designers from great ones. The O'More interior design faculty includes Deborah Griffin - an American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) national board member and winner of the ASID's Educator of the Year award - and more than 20 other professionals with years of experience in commercial, hospitality and residential design, illumination, historic preservation, antique furniture and more.

Much of what you'll learn here can't be taught within the walls of a classroom. We encourage participation in regional design events, such as the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center competitions, and we offer study-abroad programs, field trips to cultural events in major metropolitan design centers and local workshops with industry leaders. Our structured internship program ensures that you'll spend time training at the best agencies. At O'More, opportunities for fun and rewarding extra-curricular learning experiences abound.

Accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Research (FIDER), the O'More Interior Design department produces award-winning designers. Recently, seven of our students placed in the ASID Student Competition Awards, and Marcela Babiarcikova-King won a $22,000 scholarship from the Angelo Donghia Foundation. Michelle Krutsinger was among the top finalists in a competition hosted by the Canadian DOW Bioproducts company. Year after year, our alumni bring home the top awards from local, regional and national competitions. The results speak for themselves.

The O'More campus features historic buildings nestled among centuries-old trees on a seven-acre, park-like campus just blocks from the wonderful downtown Franklin Main Street retail district. It's not just another college campus. the place itself inspires creativity. And O'More is one of only a few colleges in the United States licensed to teach the industry-standard Design Express CAD software that you'll be using as a professional. Here, technology and tradition live in harmony.

A successful design career is built upon passion and creativity. Design skills are taught, but desire comes from within.

At O'More, our focus is individualized instruction. Classes are small, and there's no waiting for an open computer or drafting table. Our instructors will work with you to identify your niche in the business while teaching you every aspect of the industry. You'll develop the specific skills you need to excel as a professional designer, and you'll be well prepared to hit the ground running in commercial or residential design, theater or motion picture design, historic preservation or an array of other concentrations.

Our faculty is made up of working professionals: Interior designers, engineers, architects, preservationists. Here, you'll get the guidance to find your passion, and the practical knowledge you need to build a successful career.

Combine your passion and creativity with an O'More education, and you'll find that there are no limits to what you can achieve.
