Barbara Blumin
Associate Professor and Chair
B.F.A., Parsons School of Design
Ms. Blumin hires and evaluates faculty, develops curriculum, advises students, and teaches upper-level design studio courses. An award-winning commercial interior designer, past assignments have taken her to London, the Bahamas and New York to work for corporations such as Benihana of Tokyo, Flamingo Bay Café, the Soho Showroom, and Estee Lauder. Her area of expertise is residential design as well as hospitality design. She is a member of IDEC, IIDA and a published author.

Rebecca Andrews
Associate Professor, Interior Design
B.I.D., Auburn University
Ms. Andrews studied at the prestigious Vicenza Institute of Architecture in Vicenza, Italy, and brings that influence into her teaching. Her work in exhibit design has taken her to Europe to work with entertainment entities such as Paramount Pictures, Yanni and ESPN. She also worked for Earl Swensson and Associates, one of Nashville’s largest architecture firms.

Emily Brewer
Instructor, Interior Design
BA O’More College of Design
Ms. Brewer is the owner of an independent interior designer practice. She specializes in residential, commercial, and contract design.

Scott Burgess
Instructor, Interior Design
B.F.A., Pratt University
Mr. Burgess owns Interiors in Full Scale, a local interior design firm. Formerly, he was director of interior design services for Business Invirons in Rocky Hill, Conn., where his clients included Ernst & Young, Trinity College, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and MassMutual Insurance. He is a former instructor at the Connecticut Institute of Art and Design.

Don Burke
Instructor, Interior Design
Master of Architecture, Savannah College of Art and Design
Mr. Burke is principal and president of Burke Coffey Architecture and Design. Don has produced and coordinated engineering drawings for various projects, including historic renovation and adaptive-reuse, public schools, and single and multi-family residential projects, as well as a number of small commercial projects.

Kevin Coffey
Instructor, Interior Design
Bachelor of Architecture, University of Kansas
Mr. Coffey is principal and secretary of Burke Coffey Architecture and Design. While the majority of Kevin’s experience is in the residential field, he has also worked on tenant build outs, schools, multi-family housing, daycare facilities, historic renovations, residential development planning, space planning and retail stores.

Kelly Gore
Associate Professor, Interior Design
B.S.I.D., University of Tennessee
Ms. Gore had the invaluable experience of working as an interior designer at two of Nashville's leading architecture firms, Earl Swensson & Associates and Fowlkes & Associates Architects. She currently works as an independent designer. At the 2001 IIDA Design Competition, she won the "Best of Commercial Design" award. She is an expert in the area of Color Theory and also has an extensive private practice primarily in office design.

Deborah Griffin
Associate Professor, Interior Design
B.S., Florida State University
M.S., University of Tennessee
Ms. Griffin is owner of Griffin Design Group, and her clients include tennis pro Malavia Washington and the Nashville Predators' Scott Hartnell. She serves on the National ASID Board of Directors, as ASID National Student Advisor, and is the former chairman of the Florida Chapter. In 2005, she was named Educator of the Year by the Middle Tennessee Chapter. She was formerly head designer for Resort Designs in Amelia Island, Florida.

Barbara Harris

Ms. Harris owns Harris Drafting, whose clients include Tennessee State University and Foxhollow-Goodson Architects. She is also the owner and publisher of Art Attack. a monthly publication which covers the Nashville-area arts scene.

Doug Johns
Instructor, Interior Design

Mr. Johns is principal and owner of C.D. Johns + Architect LLC. Doug worked for Earl Swensson Associates as project manager and contract administrator. He has 30 years of experience as an architect.

David Koellein
Instructor, Interior Design
BA, Lipscomb University
MUP, Harvard University
Mr. Koellein serves as strategic project manager for Giarratana Development Company in Nashville, notable for high rise condominium development. Previously David worked for Nashville’s Metro Development and Housing Agency where he coordinated urban design review of new construction projects. He serves on several non-profit boards and committees working to improve the quality of life in downtown Nashville and writes freelance about urban design and development.

Kaye Low-Smith
Associate Professor, Interior Design

M.S., Western Kentucky University
Ms. Low-Smith is both a talented interior designer and a well-known fiber artist, producing creative and unique pieces. Her work has been exhibited at major shows and galleries throughout the Southeast.

Mark Medley

Mr. Medley is an artist, an art teacher, and art historian.

Fred Preuss
Associate Professor, Interior Design
B.A., Wagner College
M.DIV., Lutheran Theological Seminary
Mr. Preuss has owned and operated Blueline Associates, a design firm specializing in custom residential and commercial projects, for more than 20 years. He brings to the classroom a commitment to professional work and a passion for "doing things right."

Alfred Sharpe
Instructor, Interior Design
B.A. Vanderbilt University
Mr. Sharpe is a world renowned furniture designer and craftsman with commissions for The Hermitage, The Tennessee State Museum, Travelers Rest, the State Capitol, Rattle and Snap Plantation, the Oaklands Mansion and Carnton. His work has been featured in many publications. He was invited to speak in France at the invitation of the Getty Museum. Alf is a member of the board of directors of The Furniture Society and the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists.

Brenda Smith
Instructor, Interior Design
B.I.D., Auburn University
Master of Architecture, Virginia Polytechnic Institute
Ms. Smith works in residential construction and renovation and does freelance architectural renderings. While at Auburn University, she received the prestigious Faculty Award and brings that level of talent to her work to O'More.

Doug Stewart
Associate Professor, Interior Design
B.S., Athens State College
Mr. Stewart has been with Hermitage Lighting in Nashville for many years and is considered an expert in the field of Lighting Fixtures and Lighting Design. He has worked extensively on so many residential and commercial projects in the Mid-Tennessee area and is very well known in his field.

Shanon Wasielewski
Instructor, Interior Design

M.P.S.A., Texas A&M University
Ms. Wasielewski is preservation planner for the City of Franklin, Tenn.. She is the former Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and consultant for the Buffalo Gap Historic Site in Abilene, Texas. She has served as a Smithsonian Researcher for the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C., and was the recipient of the Emerging Preservation Leaders Scholarship awarded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Kelly Young-Robbins
Instructor, Interior Design
B.S., University of Tennessee
Ms. Young-Robbins began her career in commercial design as a space planner and then continued to an architectural/engineering firm working primarily with school construction. She moved to the Middle Tennessee area in 2002 and worked as a design/estimate manager for a residential construction company in northern Nashville, which led her to MainStreet Homes, where she has been since 2004. Kelly has had the opportunity to play many different roles with MainStreet Homes such as designer, drafter, and estimator.

Kimberly Zimmer

Mrs. Zimmer is owner of Kim Zimmer Interior Design, a high end residential and commercial interior design firm. She was Vice President of Marketing of Client Services at the Haggin Group in San Francisco.
