Safety and Hours

O'More College of Design, though unique in its setting and as a functioning facility, nevertheless recognizes the security concerns that all schools must consider and address in the 21st century. The college wants to provide its students and guests the greatest possible degree of access to the buildings and grounds. With those challenges in mind, the school employs both full- and part-time security guards and retains a groundskeeper in residence. There is always someone "home" at O'More College of Design, and that will continue to be true as our student body grows.

All visitors to campus are asked to sign in upon arrival in the Abbey Leix Mansion, and all guests, students, faculty, and staff are required to cooperate fully with campus security officers while on the premises or attending school-sponsored events. Likewise, all students, employees, and guests are subject to all city, county, state, and national laws.

Severe Weather

As anyone who calls the region "home" can attest, Middle Tennessee has it all, including just about every category of weather imaginable. In the event of extremely adverse weather conditions, O'More College of Design will be closed. Closings will be announced on WKRN Channel 2, WSMV Channel 4, WTVF Channel 5, WZTV Fox 17, and on the college's automated voice system, extension 250. All students, faculty, and staff are expected to exercise discretion regarding personal safety, whether the college is officially open or closed. When making decisions regarding personal safety, students should look to their individual class syllabus for answers to questions regarding excused and unexcused absences. Classes canceled due to bad weather will be made up later in the semester at a date and time to be determined by each instructor.

Anyone on campus during a severe weather event should look to the Campus Security Department for information and a coordinated response. Specific areas on campus have been designated for shelter when weather conditions become dangerous.
