At O’More, we love design, and we are serious about it. If you want an interior design degree, you have many options. But, if you want an interior design education, we are confident that you will like what you discover at O’More.

Ours is the oldest CIDA-accredited Interior Design (I.D.) Program in Tennessee, and our long history means our reputation and networks in the Nashville-area design community are well established. This comes in handy as we introduce our students to the professional world, both while in school and when it’s time to secure internships (which we require) and start coveted careers.

O’More was founded as an interior design school, realizing Eloise Pitts O’More’s vision to replicate in Middle Tennessee the experience she had enjoyed as a design student in Paris. Today, we uphold Mrs. O’More’s original vision of offering a highly focused, demanding, and rewarding interior design education.

The I.D. faculty represent a diverse mixture of full-time and adjunct professionals, many of whom are practitioners themselves and who have very specialized experience that they pass along in the classroom. Because we believe in a collaborative, creative work environment, the faculty, students and administration enjoy a friendly and familial atmosphere. Design education should always be hands-on and individualized. You are not one among many. You are a student with individual passions and skills, and we treat you accordingly.

Our setting inspires creativity. Our stunning, historic main campus and our new I.D. Studio at The Factory in Franklin illustrate both our appreciation for history and our attraction to the avant garde. In the classroom, old fashioned methods mingle with the latest in design technology. We build on traditions, but they don’t control us.

We believe in service. Through student chapters of both ASID and IIDA, we network professionally and also engage in service learning projects. Designers have skills that make the community more sustainable and enjoyable for those of all walks of life.

We travel! There is no substitute for experiencing great spaces in person. Every student will travel to Europe at least once while at O’More—it’s built into the tuition—and in I.D., we make regular trips to the markets in Chicago and Atlanta and take off, sometimes spontaneously, to visit sites of architectural interest all over the country.

Our accolades are numerous. Just this past year, for example, both of our student nominees were awarded Donghia Foundation Scholarships in the amount of $27,000 each. Only twelve such awards are given nationwide, and O’More was the only school outside of New York, California, and Florida to boast even a single recipient. Between the coasts, O’More stands apart.

O’More’s Interior Design Program, culminating in a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design, has earned its place as the design education of choice in our region. We are proud of what we do, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
