To excel in the design world, you need to be grounded in the basics. The ability to draw and to manipulate two- and three-dimensional forms as well as an understanding of space, color, and composition are just a few skills among the many you will need to become a competent designer. What you learn in our Fine Arts Department over 18 credit hours will have a different application in each of our three majors, but there is no question that a broader foundation in the fine arts can give you a creative and competitive advantage—can make you more adaptable as a student and a professional designer.
The Fine Arts Department will give you a better understanding of your tools and a greater resource for inspiration. And just as our other departments are staffed with industry professionals, our fine arts instructors aren't just teachers, they're talented artists themselves. You don't have to be a great artist when you enroll at O'More College of Design, but you will be a better one when you graduate.
