Federal Assistance
Grants
Pell Grant
This grant is based on need as determined by the FAFSA report. It has a value in 2009-2010 for a full-time student from $5350 to $976 annually. U.S. citizens or residents in the U.S. for other than temporary purposes are eligible.
Academic Competitive Grant (ACG)
This grant is from the federal government and is based on financial need and academic merit. The need is established with the results of the FAFSA. All ACG recipients must be Pell Grant eligible. ACGs are for students who are enrolled full-time in their first and second academic years and have graduated from a rigorous high school program of study.
First-year students' awards are for $750. Second-year students' awards are for $1,300. Second-year students must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART)
SMART grants are for full-time students enrolled in O'More's Visual Communications major who are in their third and fourth academic years and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. SMART recipients must first be Pell Grant eligible. The annual SMART award is $4,000.
Loans
O'More offers loans to students and parents through the Federal Family Education Loan Program. Students who borrow in this program must complete a student loan entrance interview when they borrow for the first time, and they must complete an exit interview upon graduation, when dropping below half-time, when withdrawing from school, or upon termination of financial aid for any other reason.
Stafford Loans
These loans are available to students who file a FAFSA. There are two types of Stafford Loans: subsidized (interest is paid by the federal government) and unsubsidized (interest is paid by students or added to the loan). The type offered to a student is determined by the report produced from the FAFSA. Total college credit earned and student status dictate the amount of Stafford Loan available each year. The amounts range from $5500 to $7,500 annually for dependent students, and even more for independent students. These loans require that students enroll at least half-time, and repayment is deferred as long as the student is at least half-time.

Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
These are, as the name suggests, loans for parents. The amount available to parents equals the total cost of attendance less other aid the student receives. This loan does not require filing a FAFSA. Interest accrues and repayment begins soon after disbursement, though repayment may be deferred upon request.
