Giving to O'More - Message From the President - Dr. K. Mark Hilliard: Life is about finding our God-given gifts, growing and expanding those gifts, and sharing them with others. O'More College of Design is blessed with 200 students who have tremendous gifts and talents. What makes us truly different from a typical university is that our approach to teaching and learning is directed by our desire to expand minds and talents for meaningful expression, and to help our students experience the blessings in sharing their gifts with others to make our world a better place-a concept I call Purposeful Design Thinking.
Why Give to O'More - Dr. K. Mark Hilliard: I am a father of two recent college graduates and, based on what I believe is most important in higher education, I currently financially support three different colleges and universities. What about O'More's program makes me believe that it is a place worthy my support and the financial support of others?
- Our family feel created by the non-traditional setting of our campus, our caring and service-oriented faculty, and our one-on-one relationships with our students- both within and outside the classroom.
- Our institutional and individual family values which are continually expressed by our students and faculty as a core part of who we are.
- Our unique diversity for a small institution-we have student, faculty, and board membership from 37 different states and 14 countries.
- Our ability to internationally train our students for a global marketplace through our "Redesign the World Initiative." Every student is provided multiple international and cultural training opportunities, global and cultural travel courses, and cultural services projects within and outside the United States.
- Our utilization of practicing artists and designers as teachers for every class and every discipline, and our impressive list of scholars in our liberal arts program including NASA researchers, military scientists, and internationally-trained professors and fellows.
- Our impressive and intimate academic relationships with Oxford University, England; Savannah College of Art and Design, Charleston SC; Belmont University, Nashville, TN; Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN; O'More-Ireland, Abbeyleix, Ireland; O'More-Cherokee, Cherokee Reservation, NC; and others.
- Our O'More Research Academy which trains our students in studies such as the benefits of fashion, interior, and graphic design to society, humanity, and the environment.
- Our Society of Scholars and Fellows which is composed of professors with intensive research into a variety of topics in the academic and design world.
- Our Image Conservatory which guides our students in personal presentation and appearance skills, social networking, resume writing, and professional and social etiquette.
O'More College has the ability to turn a passion for design into a meaningful and marketable life for our students and your financial support allows you to become a part of the process. A gift to O'More College of Design will help our students Redesign the World.
