Community Overview

The O'More College of Design experience would not be the same in any other location, and anyone who has visited Franklin, Tennessee, can tell you why. Just as the school itself vibrates with history and style, so does the surrounding city. And just as the school has its eye on design and preservation, the old and the new, so too does the city of Franklin.

The story of Franklin begins with its founding in 1799. More than a century as a small agricultural community led to prosperity prior to the American Civil War, but that conflict took a toll on the local economy—a toll which itself lingered for more than a century. Today the city of Franklin, as well as Williamson County, is one of the wealthiest in the country, and the city was recently ranked 5th among the best small towns in Southern Living's Readers' Choice poll.

Downtown Franklin is a comfortable walk away from the campus of O'More College of Design. Classic American streets and buildings form the landscape which leads to restaurants, shopping, and historical sites: all part of the experience which comes from attending the school.
