O’More College of Design provides a quality art and design education which emphasizes individual attention. The College promotes a partnership with the local, regional, and global community through exhibits, programs, continuing education, and service projects. We prepare students to think critically and imaginatively, to become responsible citizens, and to develop a pattern of lifelong learning.
Admission Policy and Requirements
O'More
College of Design offers admission to those students who demonstrate
the aptitude, creativity, and motivation to succeed in the
College’s rigorous BFA degree programs. An applicant's
grades, ACT and/or SAT scores, prior education, and presentation
of previous work will be considered.
Application Procedure
Applicants
to O'More College of Design must submit the following:
- A completed application (click here
to complete an online application)
- $50.00 application fee (non-refundable)
- Submit a Statement of Purpose:
On a separate sheet of paper, please give a thorough answer to each of the following questions. 1. Students are attracted to the field of design for a variety of reasons. Why do you wish to become a designer?
2. A focused vision of your future is what will set you apart as a successful designer. What is your vision for your design career?
3. Society is increasingly aware of the importance of design in making our world a better place to live. As a successful designer, what benefits would you hope to be able to provide to society, the environment, or humanity?
- An official high school transcript or GED test scores
(official transcripts or scores must be sent directly from
the issuing institution to O’More College). If a student
has completed more than 60 college hours, high school transcripts
or GED scores are not required.
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
attended
- ACT and/or SAT scores. Students who have completed at
least one semester of college work or who are 21 years or
older are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores.
Departmental
Review
In addition, applicants may be interviewed
by their respective Department Chair. The interview provides
the applicant an occasion to enhance his/her opportunities
for acceptance, discuss personal interests, and further explore
the educational possibilities that O’More has to offer.
Applicants are required to bring a portfolio, or at least
one piece of creative work reflective of their abilities,
to the interview with the Department Chair. If an applicant
does not have an adequate portfolio, they will be required
to submit a home exam as assigned by the Department Chair.
Financial
Aid
O'More College offers a variety of financial aid, including
a host of private scholarships, the state HOPE scholarship,
Federal Pell Grants, Federal Stafford (subsidized and unsubsidized)
Loans, and Federal PLUS Loans. Applicants for financial aid
programs must enroll, as a minimum, on a half-time basis (6
credit hours) in a degree program. Eligibility for federal
aid also requires satisfactory academic progress toward the
degree as stated in the STANDARDS OF PROGRESS. For any student
to be considered for any type of Financial Aid, a FAFSA must

SCHOLARSHIPS
Academic
Each year, O'More
College of Design offers a limited number of four-year academic
scholarships to incoming freshmen. Scholarships are competitive
and recipients are selected through the Office of Admissions
based on high-school GPA, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular
activities, and the demonstrated desire and ability to succeed
at O'More College. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA
of 3.5 throughout their enrollment at O'More. Preference may
be given to early applicants.
Departmental
O'More also offers
a limited number of Departmental Scholarships, which are awarded
by the department chairs to students who demonstrate a superior
level of design creativity. Recipients must maintain a cumulative
GPA of 3.0 throughout their enrollment at O'More. Preference
may be given to early applicants.
Need-Based
Additionally, O'More offers a limited
number of need-based scholarships, which are awarded by the
Director of Financial Aid. Recipients must maintain a cumulative
GPA of 3.0 throughout their enrollment at O'More. Preference
may be given to early applicants.
